The Hypex Netfilter is a passive mains input filter designed for integration in mains powered products that incorporate a switch mode power supply without active power factor correction.
Such power supplies may draw non sinusoidal input current from the AC mains, resulting in harmonic current components. The Netfilter attenuates the dominant harmonic currents and reduces conducted emissions at the mains interface. Its primary function is to support compliance with applicable harmonic current and EMC standards, such as IEC 61000 3 2, at system level.
The Netfilter is implemented as a dedicated input filtering stage and is intended for integration by OEM manufacturers into their end products. It provides a compact and cost efficient solution to improve mains emission behaviour where a full active PFC stage is not implemented.
